BREAKING DIAMONDS is a commissioned painting of a reclining floating woman, inspired by mermaids in the BREATHE series. She was painted to complement the colours of an interior fabric and fit with the words: chartreuse, pale blue, teal, inky blue, sunbeams, movement, vitality, landscape. As I painted her I named her Karin, meaning ‘pure’, and imagined she was floating in the Adriatic sea off Slovenia.
